Welcome to Androidium! For the next 10 weeks, we are going to dive deep into Android and learn what it takes to build an app. We're going to go from complete beginner, to being able to build an app that can be put up on the app store.

We start with building user interfaces in Week 1, and dive deep into the Java programming language for the next 3 weeks. All along the way, we will keep cycling back to Android and learning how to apply your new programming skills to app-building. Our end goal with this course is "How to build an app", not "How to learn programming". The second half of the course covers increasingly complex Android concepts that give you the foundation to be a strong Android developer.

We've gathered the best online resources as well as original content to guide you through the most effective learning path possible. But you will need to put in the work! Learning programming is like any other skill; an effective learning program is essential, but useless without extensive practice. You are expected to try out every concept you learn, and each week has exercises that push you to do so. The schedule assumes you will be putting in about 10 hours of work each week; 1 hour each weeknight, and 5 hours over the weekend.

To aid you in this journey, we have a few resources. First, you will be part of a chat platform that allows you to discuss with me and your other classmates. Secondly, we have a custom Q&A forum where you can clarify doubts or seek further resources from your classmates and myself. Third, we have live video "Office Hour" sessions every week with me. These sessions will be used to recap difficult concepts, check up on progress, and answer any other questions you might have.
